Taking the leap

Today was a fun and adventurous day. Ken and Miyu had a hair appointment at 3:30pm and I decided to come along because by the time they finished, it would’ve been around dinner time anyway. We took the trains and when we separated, I took a detour to Yurindo, a book and stationary store. And…as it happens, I splurged on some random stationary for my upcoming planners that I’ve decided to purchase from Hobonichi.

Hobonichi Techo

The planner series is called Hobonichi Techo. I was sad that Yurindo didn’t carry Hobonichi at this particular store, but I thought I might as well pick up some stationary while I was at it. Then I went to Starbucks and, on a whim, decided to search for where I can buy Hobonichi planners. I just wanted to see them in person and decide which ones to get. I found a store located inside a mall that was only two stops away by train. Thrilled, I decided to go on my own and meetup with Ken and Miyu there. I ended up buying my planners (one Original A6 and one Weekly) at this store called Loft instead of ordering them online as originally planned. Let’s just say, I got my Christmas present to myself a bit early this year, as usual. 😏

Anxious and excited

I decided to try the Original A6 size and the Weekly. I had originally planned to just buy the Cousin A5 size planner by itself, but I changed my mind after watching some YouTube videos. So, I decided that the A5 would’ve given me undue pressure to fill the space. Even though I initially wanted that extra space to perhaps doodle, I know myself well enough that having more empty space would just make me anxious. I probably would end up not doodling because of the pressure to do so, if that makes sense. I’m waiting for an acrylic cover to come back in stock for my A6 since I don’t want to get it dirty. Apparently I won’t know until the end of this month whether or not Hobonichi will even restock the item.

I was going to get the black cover for the A6 but the sky blue and black color combo didn’t really sit well with me. I opted for this cerulean blue and cognac instead. Something about it appeals to me. Though I did also like this hunter green version that I saw online as well.

Then for the Weekly, I chose to get the standard version instead of the Mega (has more blank pages) because I don’t even know if I’ll end up really using it for next year. I liked this periwinkle blue cover in particular because I love dandelions and thought it was cute. 🙂 I wish they had varied the size of the dandelions but oh well, c’est la vie. I didn’t like the other covers very much. It’s nice because these planners start in December so it gives me time to get settled and prep for the upcoming year!
